Tinkering, scavenging, and invention are all timeless themes in the Star Wars franchise — and they are also a foundational part of our DNA here at littleBits. That’s why, when we launched the Droid Inventor Kit last year in collaboration with Lucasfilm, we made sure that it was not simply a replica toy.
The award-winning Droid Inventor Kit enables kids to immerse themselves in STEAM through invention and play — and we’ve been so impressed with the Droids our community has already created! From a Droid that delivers tissues to a Droid that helps kids with autism deal with challenging situations, the inventions have been equal parts funny, useful, and heartwarming.
Looking for ways to celebrate Star Wars this May the 4th? We’ve rounded up our top four tips below. Dress for the occasion. Not only is Star Wars Day a great opportunity for you to don your favorite character costume, but it is an even better opportunity to dress your pets. Adorable!
Screen your favorite Star Wars movie. Whether you’re a fan of “Attack of the Clones” (2002), “The Force Awakens” (2015), or “The Empire Strikes Back” (1980), May the 4th is the perfect day to watch your favorite Star Wars movie with your friends and family. Don’t forget the popcorn! Bake some Wookiee Cookies. What do you get when you combine a couple of cups of flour, a dash of salt, and all of the milk chocolate chips your heart desires? Eventually… Wookiee Cookies! There are a few different recipes available, but we like the chocolate chip version the best. Make something. May the 4th is a great time to get creative! Mold Princess Leia from clay. Build a Droid that delivers candy. Sew your own Darth Vader costume. Embrace your inner artist and tinkerer, using your imagination to make Star Wars come to life in your own way.
Share your best roar. For each public post, like, or share on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter that includes #RoarForChange between May 3 – 25, 2018, Star Wars: Force for Change U.S. will donate $1 to UNICEF USA, up to $1 million. Funds will be used to support UNICEF’s lifesaving work for children around the world.
What are you doing today? Let us know how you’re celebrating Star Wars Day by taking a photo and sharing with @littleBits! And, as the saying goes: May the 4th be with you.
