bitLab Thursday: Meet Alex Pikkert, maker of the Break Out Bit
As many of you know, Alex Pikkert is a littleBits magician. We’re always oohing and aahing over his mystifying projects. And for his latest trick, Alex made a bit to connect your littleBits to other systems. Check it out, share & vote today!
My name is Alex Pikkert and I live in Hengelo in the Netherlands. I have a BSc. (Bachelor of Science) in Electrical Engineering, and I have worked for Eaton Electrical in the Netherlands as sales engineer and product manager. (http://www.eaton.nl). I retired last year after a fulfilling 7 years. I have always been fascinated by electronics and automation since I was a kid and owned many engineering and construction sets.
My maker superpower is to invent projects that first seem difficult or even impossible but can easely be made with the help of littleBits. I am inspired by the ease of the littleBits platform to make the impossible possible. As well as the fantastic ways you can experiment with it, getting quick results and reactively changing a design to solve a problems.
The most exciting project I have worked on is the Magical Marble Sorting Machine, but I have a feeling that many more will follow.
I have used littleBits to challenge myself to create wonderful things. These projects would normally take ages to complete without the prototyping power of littleBits.
My dream bit would be an AI bit that you can talk and would magically do what you tell it. Haha.
