Can’t wait to see you at the 2015 World Maker Faire. Let the countdown begin!

By admin

This year, the World Maker Faire is coming to a small town called New York City. Have you heard of it? Because we call this fair city home, we’re gearing up for a full weekend of inventing at the Faire. Will you come see us?! We’ll have a big booth waiting for you with tons of contests and cool stuff on September 26th and 27th. Whether you’re a first-timer or a Pro Bitster, we want to see your smiling face and get you creating new inventions.

Can’t make it? Fear not! We’re very social and will be covering the event live from Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. Either way, read on to check out what we’ll be doing at Maker Faire and discover how to win tickets on us, and learn what’s going on at the littleBits Store in SoHo.

The littleBits Invention Booth

Remember the colossal invention we had at the last Maker Faire? Well, it’s BACK. We’re hauling the epic littleBits arcade game to the World Maker Faire. It’s the largest invention ever constructed with littleBits. And the best part is that you get to play with it to win tasty treats and earn bragging rights. When you’re at the booth, you’ll also get a first glimpse at a few secret projects we’ve been working on, and get an opportunity to have your smiling mug plastered on our polaroid World Maker Faire Wall of Fame. Did we mention we’ll have a project at the ready? If you swing by, you’ll be able to invent a littleBits keytar and purchase it on the spot so you can keep rocking at home.  Best of all, we’ll have tons of Bits for you to get your mits on. Your challenge: Visit us and invent something awesome!

Where to find us? Scamper on down to the Electronics Tent Maker Pavilion. Check out the event map in the Maker Faire program guide or download the mobile app for more detailed information.

Invent to WIN

Does this all sound great, but you just can’t swing tickets right now? We still want to see you! So we’re giving away 5 free tickets to the event. Here’s how to win them: Create an invention – large or small – with littleBits, and share it on Instagram.  Use the hashtags #littleBits AND #MakerFaire and we’ll award our top 5 picks with a free ticket to the World Maker Faire. Extra points for creativity! Please post your inventions by 9/23.

Ayah Bdeir takes the Stage

We’re so proud to announce that our inspirational Founder and CEO, Ayah Bdeir, will be discussing how to prepare students for problems, opportunities, careers, and technologies that haven’t been invented yet during her talk “Moving Maker Ed into the Mainstream”. You can see it Saturday, September 26 at 3:00pm at the MAKE: Education Stage. Ayah will also be on hand Saturday at 4:30pm at the MAKE: DIY Stage to talk about her book “Make: Getting Started with littleBits: Prototyping and Inventing with Modular Electronics”.

Stock Up on Bits & Kits

If you’re looking to build your littleBits collection, had your eye on a special Kit, or have been drooling over an individual Bit, you’re in luck! They’ll all be available for sale in the littleBits booth and at the MakerShed. That’s right. No shipping. No handling. Just Bits in your hands and back to your home on the same day. Check the map for specific locations.

Maker Faire Meetup at the littleBits Store

With all these Bitsters in town for the Faire, we thought we ought to have a special event for everyone from near and far. Luckily, we just opened our first-ever store in SoHo that’s perfect for hosting! On September 26th, we’re inviting all Bitsters to enjoy an evening of talks and networking with a panel of special guest inventors. They’ll share their personal journeys as makers and inventors, and inspire us all to create the world we want to live in. Plus you’ll get some tasty treats! Click here to RSVP and learn more about the event and our inventors-in-residence.

We can’t wait to rock out with you!
