Project of the Week: Servo Operated Blinking Mechanism for a Puppet

By Emily Tuteur

We are quite impressed with Jeff Bragg’s blinking puppet mechanism. Using littleBits, this self-contained system allows him to control both the eyes and the mouth of a puppet with one hand.

With a strategically placed pressure sensor, he is able to control a servo that blinks the puppet’s eyes while simultaneously moving the mouth with his hand. He used Eitech erector set parts for the eye structure and custom vacuum-formed eyelids for the eyes. Can’t wait to see what he comes up with next!
