Summer Inventions: Music to Our Ears

By allison vannest

For many people, summer is synonymous with music. From 1969’s iconic Woodstock Music & Art Fair to modern-day festivals like Governors’ Ball, Bonnaroo, Newport Folk Festival, Lollapalooza, Outside Lands, and Coachella, the summer music scene is strong in the United States.

Here at littleBits, we see a lot of music-related inventions in the summertime — many from kids looking to make the season a little more groovy. Can’t make it to your favorite festival this summer? Give a listen to a few of our favorite music-related inventions over the years.

Dance Music

Our friend Mareo came out with some amazing dance music using Bits like the synth speaker, delay, filter, envelope, micro sequencer, keyboard, and oscillator. Sounds amazing!

Email Music Box

Jonah created an “Email Music Box” that connects a vintage wind-up music box to the Internet. Every time an email is received, the song “Hey Jude” by the Beatles is played on the music box.

DIY Music Remixer

Arjun and Syed created this awesome music remixer that allows you to play songs through your littleBits circuit and manipulate them with the envelope, filter, delay, and oscillator.

If you have a moment, share the most interesting things that your child has created so far this summer on Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter.
