Meet the Inventor

Luke Seeley

Luke grabbed our attention during the 2016 BitOlympics Challenge, when he made not one, but three inventions. He and his friend Connor won the BitOlympic silver medal with their Big & Little #Bitolympics Soccer Field.

A reporter from their school district even interviewed them for a front-page story, “With a little bit of luck and a lot of hard work, Mac students claim silver medal.”  Let’s take a moment to get to know Luke better.

How does it feel to get so much attention from your school district?
It feels so awesome! It’s crazy that stuff like this can happen just using the power of your imagination!

Where are you based?
I am from Vancouver, Washington.

How would you describe yourself in six words or less?
I would call myself an adventurous, curious inventor who loves littleBits!

What was your littleBits “a-ha!” moment? The moment you were bitten by the littleBits bug.
I was first interested in littleBits when I saw them at OMSI [the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry] almost a year ago.

When starting a littleBits project, what does your design and video process look like?
First I decide what I’m going to build and make a rough outline of it in my head.  Next, I think about the circuitry and how I can make it work.  Then I get to work building, and after that I add all the fine details like background decor.  Then I film it and upload my invention to littleBits!  Check out my Magical Hogwarts Express:

How has littleBits impacted you creatively?
littleBits has opened up a whole new world of possibilities for what I can do with my imagination.

What do you plan on inventing next?
I plan on inventing a complete Harry Potter world with all my Bits, including the new Bluetooth Low Energy Bits!
