How To Make It

1

Build prototype with foam board and cardboard to test before building with plexiglass. Create a box using foam board.

2

Drill hole in center of round canister top and foam board for the motor.

3

Glue nut on top of the hole on the round canister top.

4

Attach magnets to rim of the canister top.

5

Create 1 ramp with cardboard and 1 with foam board.

6

Secure cardboard ramp with tape. Place foam board ramp into box.

7

Take apart toy xylophone and seal the holes with Play-doh.  Place xylophone on top of the foam ramp.

8

Secure motor in the back of the box with two pieces of wood glued together.

9

Put metal balls into the box.

10

Attach littleBits (motor, power, motion sensor, battery, extension wire) and turn power on.

11

Testing and Troubleshooting.

12

Create a small curved corner in the left corner of the box by cutting some cardboard and block out space with Play-doh to prevent the balls from rolling into the corner.

13

Add rubber feet to the front of the box on the left and right corner to tilt the box. This will help the balls roll towards the wheel (canister top)

14

Create the plexiglass box version.
