Frozen Snow Globe

by JackANDJude

Published on June 19, 2014

With the push of a button, the Arduino will blow snow and play snippets of three songs: "Do You Wanna Build A Snow Man?" "For the First Time in Forever," and "Let it Go".  To conserve battery life for long periods of play, use a toggle switch to keep the fan off.

How To Make It

Assemble the circuit power + button + wire (pin a0) + Arduino + wire (pin d5) + toggle switch + fan + speaker (from Arduino pin d9).

Upload code to Arduino Download the attached snow globe code and pitches.h files. Upload them to the Arduino bit. Each song has two arrays: one for notes and one for note duration.

Do you wanna build a snowman? Build a polymer clay Olaf to fit inside the fish bowl.

Decorate the box Select a cardboard box that can fit the full circuit. The box should have nice proportions relative to your fish bowl. Mark and cut holes with a scissors or Xacto knife where you will put the button, speaker and the optional power save toggle switch. Now get to decorating the box any way you like.

Final touches Cut and glue a mesh screen to the fan to keep little snow foamy bits from getting stuck in the fan. Hot glue Olaf's foot to the screened fan and the beach ball to the corner. Open the umbrella slightly and glue dot it to Olaf's back.
