Dazzle on New Year's Eve with this party hat! Check out the how-to video where Ayah, littleBits Founder & CEO, explains how to make this project with a Holiday Kit.

How To Make It

Let's begin by creating the circuit! Connect the following bits in this order: power + light wire + pulse + wire + bright led

Use the little purple screwdriver to adjust the rate of the pulse Bit. This will change how fast your bright led blinks.

Time to start adding Bits to your party hat! We bought this black hat from a party store - but get creative and make your own!

You will need to poke 2 holes in your hat. Use an xacto knife to make one hole in the front that is large enough to feed your light wire through. Then, shape your light wire to spell "2013" or whatever message you want it to say.

The second hole should be at the top of the hat where you want your star to stick out. The hole should be big enough so that one wire Bit connector can fit through it. Feed your wire Bit + bright led Bit through the hole.

Use a pipe cleaner to add structure to your star. Wrap your wire Bit around the pipecleaner, leaving the bright led at the top. Then, cut a star out of construction paper and place the bright led behind it.

All done! Turn your power Bit on inside your hat and let the partying begin!
