August 15, 2016

The worlds of tech and innovation suffered a devastating loss this month. Seymour Papert was a prominent mathematician and leading visionary in pioneering education with computers. Dr. Papert passed away on July 31st.

Dr. Papert was a Massachusetts Institute of Technology professor who changed the way we as a society learn and interact with computers. His main belief was that computers should be everywhere – especially in education with young learners.

While we continue to honor Dr. Papert’s legacy, this quote on innovation and education by the reknowned mathematician will inspire you:

“The role of the teacher is to create the conditions for invention rather than provide ready-made knowledge.”

And, we couldn’t agree more because invention is the gateway to imagination. Through this, Dr. Papert’s work will live on.
